Three Cups of Tea with Greg Mortenson Luncheon: A School-Building Success
Three Cups of Tea with Greg Mortenson, a Houston luncheon formed to raise awareness and funds for Central Asia Institute held on February 8, was a vast success.
Central Asia Institute, founded by Greg Mortenson, is dedicated to building schools in remote, northern Afghanistan and Pakistan - countries where poverty is fertile soil for terrorist roots to take hold. In his book Three Cups of Tea, Greg challenges the way readers think about improving the world and encourages peace through education. The award winning author and Nobel Peace Prize nominee shared his story and mission with a packed room at Hotel Intercontinental. Funds raised from the luncheon totaled enough to build nearly three schools in foreign lands.
Read what the Houston Chronicle had to say about Greg’s books and mission.
Culturemap was also at the luncheon to report on the committee who made it all happen.
